Why post-1959 lists cannot contain Baba Hakkı
His playing career ended before the national league; his place at Beşiktaş did not. Scorer, captain and president belong to the same longer story.

The history missing from the list
Hakkı Yeten, one of Beşiktaş’s major figures, cannot be found in the Süper Lig scoring table. No missing-goal investigation is needed to explain it: he retired in 1948 and the national league began in 1959. That eleven-year gap shows the boundary of a modern statistical list.

The football world of those 382 goals
When he joined from Karagümrük in 1931, city leagues and different national competitions coexisted. The club’s 382 goals in 439 appearances belong to that wider calendar. Thirty goals against each of Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe likewise describe a rivalry played across competitions, rather than a league-only derby record.
Equal goals against the two rivals are worth preserving as historical information. Without compatible appearance counts, they cannot tell us against whom he was more effective. Explaining the matches behind an old achievement serves the player better than forcing it into a modern table.
The connection outlasted the playing career
He completed his law education in 1937 and later served as Beşiktaş president. Player, captain and administrator were different roles in the same long connection. Reducing the Baba Hakkı name to his goal total would leave that wider relationship unexplained.
Comparing his three international appearances directly with today’s busy calendars would repeat the same error. Opportunities were different. There is no need to enlarge his numbers to establish his importance: within his own period, the scorer became a club figure whose responsibility continued after retirement.
